Kobo is running another contest and will be giving away another ten eReaders. To enter you need to purchase an ebook from Kobobooks.com – one ebook purchase equals one entry. This contest runs from May 18 – 31 and there will be two drawings on May 25 and June 1 with five eReaders awarded in each drawing.
Kobo also announced today that the Kobo eReader is now available in Walmart stores across Canada.

Kobo eReader Pre-Orders Shipped – iPad 3G Released Today no comments
The Koboblog happily informs us that the Kobo eReader pre-orders have shipped. From tomorrow the eReader will also be available in Canada at Chapters and Indigo stores. If you are interested in having a look at the eReader’s user guide I have posted a link to it on my Ereader User Guides and Manuals page.
The Apple iPad 3G will go on sale at Apple Stores this afternoon at 5 p.m. and will also be available at Best Buy stores. The Apple Store online is showing a shipping date of “by May 7th”.
Pricing for the iPad 3G will be $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 32GB and $829 for the 64 GB versions.

Kobo Books announced today a contest in which they will be giving away

Kobo Celebrating the End of Pre-Agency Days no comments
The agency ebook pricing pricing model should start to take effect at midnight tonight. Ebooks of three large publishers will be affected from midnight ET tonight and prices of titles from two more publishers are due to change on Saturday, April 3rd.
Kobobooks.comis having a “Party Like It’s $9.99” pre-agency party and says that yesterday was their best sales day ever. Kobo recommends purchasing as many ebooks as you can before the new pricing model goes into effect, and to that end they are offering a $2 off coupon good for as many ebooks as you like. The coupon code is 2party.
Kobo also has a demo video of the Kobo eReader up on YouTube. The new ereader is due out in the early part of May and Kobo announced yesterday that they were beginning to take pre-orders.

It has been rumored for awhile that Kobo would be releasing its own ereader. In a press release today the company has finally revealed the device.![]()
Some of the features of the Kobo eReader:
- 5 font sizes; 2 font styles.
- Pre-loaded with 100 public domain books.
- Has Bluetooth – you can use to sync with the smartphones that Kobo supports. Also has USB for connecting to computer.
- Battery life of 2 weeks or 8,000 page turns.
- 1 GB memory, can be expanded.
- Has a “soft-touch quilted vinyl back” to make it feel more like a paper book.
- Available colors: porcelain, black.
- Device size: 7.2 x 4.7 inches; 8 ounces.
- Display: 6-inch e-ink with 8 grayscales.
- Supported formats: ePub, PDF, Adobe DE
- Priced at $149 USD. Will be available from Indigo Books in May of this year and from Borders soon thereafter.
Kobo will also be offering skins for their new ereader including a textured cloth skin apparently designed to make the ereader feel more like a pbook.
Kobo also announced that with their “Powered by Kobo” program they are offering their ereading application to ereader manufacturers to include on their devices. The app and Kobo storefront should be embedded on an ereader near you sometime this year.
