OCTOVO makes designer quality leather coversas well as lower priced faux leather sleeves for the Kindle 2 and Kindle DX ereaders.

I bought the Vintage Leather cover from OCTOVO for my Kindle DX and have had it for almost a week now.  This is a quality Kindle jacket and I’m quite happy with it.

My cover is a bit darker than the photos at Amazon or OCTOVO would indicate, but each one of these covers will be somewhat unique and will also age uniquely.

The craftsmanship seems quite good.  The color of the stitching complements the color of the leather and is very precise and neat.  The interior is lined with black microfiber that seems to be of a much higherOCTOVO-Vintage-Leather-Kindle-DX-Cover-front quality than that on other covers that I’ve seen.

The front cover does not have a stiffener, but the leather is quite thick and stiff enough that I’m satisfied that it will adequately protect the screen of my ereader.  This cover utilizes the Kindle hinge system.  To secure the DX to the back panel of the cover there is an elastic band on the lower right corner.

The front folds back flat and none of the controls or ports are covered.

Besides looking really good, the Vintage Leather cover feels really nice in your Kindle-hinge hands – it is quite book-like.

Not everyone is a fan of the rustic vintage leather style, but if you are I think you will be happy with this.  If Indiana Jones had a Kindle, this would be his official Kindle cover.

OCTOVO makes the Vintage Leather cover in sizes to fit the Kindle 2 ($74.99) and the Kindle DX ($85.00).

UPDATE:  Currently only the Vintage Leather cover for the Kindle 3 is still available.

More Kindle & nook Covers, Cases & Jackets   no comments

Posted at 9:43 pm in eReader Covers, Cases & Jackets

If you have a nook or Kindle ereader there really are a lot of covers and cases to choose from now.  Besides protecting your ereader, finding the right cover is a great way to personalize your reading.

Splash Proof Kindle Case

If you are looking for water and sand resistance but don’t need a full-on waterKlearKase-Splash-Proof-Kindle2-Case proof case for your Kindle 2 ereader then the new KlearKase is worth looking at.  The KlearKase is made of polycarbonate and is splash and dust proof and also protects against bumps, scratches and drops.  This case is designed to be left on your Kindle all of the time – not just when you are reading around the wet stuff.

The KlearKase is not meant to be used if you actually take your Kindle into the water; it would be great for use poolside, while the M-Edge Guardian Casewould be the appropriate choice for actually taking your ereader with you into the pool.  Currently the KlearKaseis only available for the 6-inch Kindle and costs $39.99.  This is half of the price of the Guardian case if you don’t need the heavy duty waterproofing the M-Edge product provides.

Since this case is clear, you could also use a skin on your Kindle to personalize it.  For other waterproof ereader covers and cases see my previous post.

JAVOedge nook Covers & Cases

JAVOedge makes a lot of different cases and covers for the nook. JAVOedge-Poppy-Sleeve-nook-eReader-CoverThese come in many styles, but there are a variety of floral prints on canvas or other fabric.  Many of the JAVOedge ereader cases are available in either a book style or flip style and there are also sleeve style cases as shown in the picture.  Prices are reasonable – mostly ranging from $20 to $40.

Moleskine Kindle Cover

The Moleskine cover is available for both the 6-inch Kindle and the Kindle DX ereaders.  It is slim and elegant.  The interior is lined with microsuade and four wide elastic bands are use to hold the Kindle in place.  The Moleskine cover comes with a reporter-style notebook for note taking.  The model for the 6-inch Kindleis $39.99 and the DX sizeis $59.99.

OCTOVO Vintage Leather Kindle 2 & Kindle DX Cover

This is one of my favorites – I love old leather. OCTOVO-Vintage-Leather-Kindle-Cover The OCTOVO Vintage Leather Kindle Caseis lined with microsuade and uses the Kindle hinge plus an elastic band at one corner to hold the ereader securely in place.

With this type of rustic leather each cover will take on its own unique appearance over time.  The craftsmanship of these covers is high, and they are somewhat more expensive;   $74.99 for the 6-inch Kindle size and $84.99 for the DX size.

Amazon for some reason does not have the Vintage Leather Case for the Kindle DX lately, but you can order it direct from Octovo. icon

Periscope Lighted Folio for the Kindle 2

This cover has a built-in reading light.  The manufacturer (Periscope) says it also fits Barnes & Noble’s nook ereader,  though Amazon of course only mentions Kindle 2.  Besides the light there is a notepad and pen.

Periscope also makes versions to fit the Kindle 1 and  Kindle DX .

This is a slim leather cover based on M – Edge’s GO! Kindle jackets.   A copy of one of three well known New Yorker covers is applied using a photo sublimation process to the front cover.  These jackets come with a tan microfiber interior and use a Kindle – compatible hinge system.
