The Red Gate is an interesting looking book by Richard Sutton (4 stars/99 ratings) and is currently free at Kobo.
eReader Sales
Sony ereaders are seemingly always on sale as of late – I suspect that they will be announcing a new line of ebook readers soon. At Newegg.comthe Sony Daily Edition is currently priced at $329.00 with free shipping – lowest price I’ve seen yet. Newegg also has the Ectaco jetBook Lite on sale for $119.99, again with free shipping.

eReaders on Sale
Yesterday Borders started selling the Sony Touch ereader for $199.99, reportedly even listing it for $100 for a while. This was probably a typo. Today the virus has spread and the Sony Touch is on sale elsewhere as well. BestBuy.comis selling the PRS-600 for $199.99, Newegg.com
has it for $219.99 and both offer free shipping.
Is Sony lowering the price of the PRS-600 ereader because its sales have been hit hard by the nook? Sony used to hold the second largest ereader market share after the Kindle, but in the US at least I wonder if this is still true – at the very least it must be a close race. Or perhaps Sony is planning to introduce a new model soon? It has been about seven months since the Touch was brought to market.

Best Buy has the Sony Touch Edition ereader and cover bundle in red for $229.99, which is the lowest price I remember seeing for the PRS-600. The Daily Edition is $349.99 and the Irex DR800SG is on sale for $379.99.
Newegg.com has the JetBook Lite ereader on sale again for $119.99 with free shipping.

3.3 Million Kindles Sold in 2009? no comments
DisplaySearch is reporting that 5 million electronic paper displays (EPD) were shipped in 2009. The report also says that Amazon’s Kindle ereaders held a 66% share of the ereader market in 2009 which would equate to 3.3 million Kindles (including both the 6” and DX models) sold last year.
