Walmart is selling the Kobo Wi-Fi ereader for $129 with free shipping.
Borders has an even better deal on the Kobo Wi-Fi ereader if you are a Borders Rewards Plus member — $119.99. For nonmembers the price is $129.99. The original Kobo eReader is priced at $99.99. Borders also is offering the Aluratek Libre Pro for $89.99, the Velocity Micro Cruz Reader for $149.99 and the Cruz Tablet for $249.99. These prices are effective until Nov 28.
Barnes & Noble has been selling refurbished Nook ereaders on eBay, but now has these for sale on their own website. Refurbished Nook ereaders are certified, come with a one-year warranty and are eligible for an extended warranty. Prices are $119 for the 3G + Wi-Fi Nook and $99 for the Wi-Fi only version.
The Nook Color shipping date has slipped to Dec 3. When it launched, I didn’t think that the Nook Color would sell out by the holidays like the original did. Looks like I’m going to have to eat my words.
SkinItis having a Buy 1, Get 1 Free promotion on any device skin, good on Cyber Monday only — use the promo code BOGOMONDAY. SkinIt also has an ongoing promotion — use the coupon code FABU15 for a 15 percent discount.

The Kindle probably won’t be discounted, but Amazon will be having a lot of electronics deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Black Friday deals will start at Amazon on Nov 22. Most likely these will be in the form of temporary Lightning Deals. Amazon UK will also have Black Friday sales.

The Girl on the Beach: A Bess Crawford Mystery by Charles Todd (not yet rated) Pre-order.
Mysterious Profile #24: Ian Rutledge by Charles Todd (no reviews yet) Pre-order.
For more see my Free Kindle Books page. I’ve also been looking at the free ebooks at the Kindle UK store. For the most part these seem to be nonfiction at the moment, and most or all seem to be from Wiley.
eReaders on Sale
Newegg.comhas the Bookeen Cybook Opus and the Astak Mentor ereaders priced at $99.99. These were formerly priced at $250 and $280 respectively. The eSlick which has been discontinued by Foxit is also priced at $99.99. Newegg also has an open box Ectaco jetBook-Lite priced at $80.99.
Best Buy has the Sony Pocket Edition in silver for $127.99.
As I noted yesterday, the Kobo eReader is available at Indigo for $128. This price is only good for this weekend.
Even at these lowered prices I think the Kindle 3 Wi-Fi is a better deal than any of these. It has a much richer feature set and access to the Kindle Store.

JetBook Lite $90 no comments
Newegg’slatest sale newsletter has the JetBook Lite ereader on sale for $89.99 with free shipping. You will need to use the promo code EMCYVZS24 at checkout. Sometimes these promo codes are tied to the account of the person receiving the newsletter, so the code may not work for anyone but me – in this case I see no mention of that restriction. The coupon expires on 7/21/2010.
The latest firmware update for both the JetBook and JetBook Lite supports Adobe Digital Editions, so you can read DRMed ebooks on Ectaco’s ereaders now.

Newegg.com now has the Sony Daily Edition 7-inch ereader on sale for $279.99 + $1.99 shipping. This is the lowest price yet for this one as far as I know.
By the way, if you borrow ebooks from your public library then you are no doubt aware that Overdrive also provides audiobooks through public libraries. I listen to audiobooks in my car, and as I drive a lot I go through one or two books a week in audio format. Unfortunately my media players are not compatible with Overdrive so I have not been able to borrow any of these from the library.
While looking through Newegg’s July 4th sales I found the SanDisk Sansa Fuze 2GB recertified for only $27.99 with the promo code EMCYTNX42 which is good until July 5. This one is OverDrive – compatible, and if you want to listen in your car you can just plug an FM transmitter (quite cheap also) into the earphone jack and listen on the car’s radio.

Prices for ebooks seem to be fluctuating a lot. Friday night
I bought Life of Piby Yann Martel from Barnes and Noble. The next day I happened to see this book’s page again at Amazon (thanks to the “wonders” of the Agency Model the prices are the same everywhere on most titles) and the price had dropped almost 10 percent overnight.
I didn’t even get to really start reading it until yesterday.
eReaders on Sale
As seems to be usual of late, the Sony ereaders are being sold at reduced prices. Newegghas the Daily Edition ereader priced at $329.99, and the Pocket Edition is $149.99. Interestingly the PRS-600 Touch Edition is out of stock and “currently unavailable.” It really feels like Sony will be making some announcements soon.
As is also usual, Newegg also has the Ectaco ereaders on sale. The Jetbook is $139.99 – $149.99 depending on color. The Jetbook Lite is $99.99 to $119.99 depending on color. That’s less than a hundred dollars for a pretty good ereader!
Fry’s does have the Sony Touch in stock, and is offering it for $204.99 after an instant rebate, but you can buy the PRS-600 for a few dollars less at Amazon.

Buy a nook eReader, Get a $50 Gift Card no comments
Barnes & Noble is running a promotion for Father’s Day – if you buy a nook ereader this month you will get a $50 B&N gift card. The offer ends July 3, 2010 and you need to set up a Barnes & Noble account (if you don’t already have one) to qualify. The offer applies to nook purchases made in a Barnes & Noble store or from BarnesandNoble.com. The press release includes purchases made at Best Buy, but the fine print at Barnes & Noble says only B&N stores or the B&N website. Purchases made at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores are also excluded.

eReaders on Sale
Yesterday Borders started selling the Sony Touch ereader for $199.99, reportedly even listing it for $100 for a while. This was probably a typo. Today the virus has spread and the Sony Touch is on sale elsewhere as well. BestBuy.comis selling the PRS-600 for $199.99, Newegg.com
has it for $219.99 and both offer free shipping.
Is Sony lowering the price of the PRS-600 ereader because its sales have been hit hard by the nook? Sony used to hold the second largest ereader market share after the Kindle, but in the US at least I wonder if this is still true – at the very least it must be a close race. Or perhaps Sony is planning to introduce a new model soon? It has been about seven months since the Touch was brought to market.
