The featured author of the Barnes & Noble Spotlight program for May is Megan McDonald and her Judy Moody series for young readers.  The first book in the series, Judy Moody, is priced at $0.99.  At the the Kindle Store Judy Moody (4 1/2 stars/33 reviews) is priced at $4.69, while at Koboyou can get it for $1.79.

B&N has not released the usual detailed content list for its April More in Store program.  A recent general press release briefly mentioned that in April Nook customers can “connect to Barnes & Noble’s free in-store Wi-Fi® service to access exclusive content – including essays, short stories and more – from authors including: Alexander McCall Smith, bestselling author of The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency; Erin McKean, author of The Secret Lives of Dresses; multi-bestselling thriller author James Grippando and Paula McLain, author of the much-reviewed-and-lauded The Paris Wife.

There is no mention of free cafe offers this month, but they may still be available.

Barnes & Noble has announced more in-store promotions for owners of the nook or Irex DR800SG ereaders who bring their device into the store and show it to a clerk.  From the press release:

NEW YORK, May 17, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Barnes & Noble,  the world’s largest bookseller, today announced a Fun and Free eBooks promotion. This special in-store promotion makes enjoying eBooks even more fun by offering free digital titles from bestselling authors to customers who bring their NOOK or other device enabled with free BN eReader software into any Barnes & Noble store. Beginning today and for the next five weeks, customers who show a bookseller their device will receive a special access code, good for that week’s free eBook.

To participate, customers simply have to show a bookseller a NOOK eBook Reader or iRex DR800SG device — both powered by the Barnes & Noble eBookstore — or the free BN eReader software on an iPad(TM), iPhone(R), iPod touch(R), BlackBerry(R), HTC HD2(TM), PC or Mac(R) and the bookseller will provide the special weekly access code. Booksellers at the NOOK display in any Barnes & Noble store will gladly help customers download the free BN eReader software to their computing or mobile device so that they can enjoy the promotion.
