Free Kindle (and other eReader) Books 1 comment
Promoting their ebooks by offering them free for a limited time is a popular way for authors (especially those who are self-published) and publishers to introduce readers to a new series (by offering the first title in the series free) or to try to boost their rankings on the bestseller lists at the ebookstores. Sometimes a title from a writer’s backlist is offered free for a limited time to promote an upcoming new release from the author.
What started out a few short years ago as a trickle of free ebooks has turned into a constantly changing deluge. Many of these are free for only a very brief time, sometimes even for only a day or less. I try to list some of the better reviewed or more interesting looking of these freebies a couple of times a week. Besides my recent posts of free ebooks, you can also check through the entire lists of free ebooks available at the Kindle Store, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.
Although in the digital age it does not seem to make any sense from a consumer’s point of view, most ebooks that are published by traditional publishers still have geographical restrictions similar to their paper counterparts. Nevertheless, many of the titles that are free at the US Kindle Store will also be free in other countries at the same time. You can also find a list of free Kindle books at the UK Kindle Store hereand the German Kindle Store here.
For classics that are in the public domain and are available in ebook format for free see my eBook Sources page.
