New file format coming for Kindle books no comments
Last night Amazon announced via the Kindle Forums that the next generation file format for Kindle books is on the way.
Kindle Format 8 (KF8) will replace the Mobi 7 format and adds a number of new capabilities, including HTML5 support, fixed layouts, nested tables, callouts, sidebars and Scalable Vector Graphics. KF8 will be especially good for publishers creating graphic-rich content such as children’s ebooks, graphic novels, etc.
The Kindle Fire will feature the new format and Amazon said in its statement that KF8 support will also be added to the latest generation e-ink Kindle ereaders and the Kindle apps. Not sure from this if earlier generations of the Kindle ereaders will also get KF8 support.
