Netflix on Honeycomb   no comments

There is now a Netflix app that will work for some Android phones at the Android Market.  Unfortunately it is not currently compatible with any tablets, but Netflix is apparently working on getting there.   The OMAP 4 chipset from Texas Instruments has received Netflix HD certification.  The BlackBerry PlayBook uses the OMAP 4, as will the inbound Archos G9 tablets.

And there is hopeful news for owners of Honeycomb tablets based on the Tegra 2 chipset as well — Lenovo just announced a trio of new tablets, a couple of which run Honeycomb and will be the first Honeycomb tablets to be Netflix certified.

The Android Market will not let you install the Netflix app on a Honeycomb tablet, but you can try downloading the APK file and installing it directly from http://www.multiupload.com/XTEWL8CLCZ.  I’ve only been able to play with it for a few minutes, but it does seem to work on my Xoom, although the picture quality is not as good as that of the Netflix app on my iPad.  Not sure which other Honeycomb tablets it will work on, but you can try.
