Harry Potter ebooks to be available in Google Books format no comments
Via its Inside Google Books blog Google announced yesterday that the forthcoming Harry Potter ebooks would be available in the Google Books format. While the ebooks themselves will be available for purchase exclusively through the Pottermore website, they will be integrated with the Google Books platform and will be pushed to users’ Google Books library in-the-cloud.
I’ve not seen anything as to whether the Potter ebooks will also be available in the Kindle format. It will be a blow to Amazon’s ereaders if they are snubbed.
Update: Nate at the Digital Reader brought to my attention an email he received from Amazon. Amazon is apparently in negotiations with Pottermore to bring about Kindle versions of the Potter ebooks. It really doesn’t make sense for there not to be Kindle versions — but then it has never made any sense to me that Rowling has refused until now to release digital versions of her creations.
