Kobo ebook gifting now live no comments
Kobo, which was first to announce that it would allow customers to give ebooks as gifts — but second after Amazon to actually implement the feature, has today enabled ebook gifting.
In practice, Kobo’s gifting system is very similar to Amazon’s. Under the Buy Now button there is a Send this Book as a Gift button. The recipient will receive an email to claim the gift or instead they can get a Kobo store credit if they don’t want that particular ebook. I just bought an ebook and gifted it to myself to test the system.
I don’t have a Kobo ereader, so I transferred it to my Sony Touch via the Sony Reader Library software — worked like a charm.
You know, ebook gifting is not just good for giving gifts. I think this will prove to be a valuable tool for multi-Kindle (and possibly now multi-Kobo) families and other groups that have multiple ereaders used by several people but tied to one credit card.
