Kindle 3 Software Update 1 comment
A few users of the new Kindle 3 ereader have been reporting problems with the device locking up or spontaneously rebooting. This appears to be a software rather than a hardware problem, and seems to be affecting only a small percentage of devices. Today Amazon has made public a preview releaseof a new update which aims to fix the problem.
This update should be viewed as a beta release for the time being, and if you are not having problems you might want to wait for the final version. If you do wish to install the update, please read all of the instructions on the download page. Amazon is also asking for your feedback to help determine the effectiveness of the patch.
It is good to see Amazon working on getting this problem fixed so quickly. I have been using a Kindle 3 for about a week now and have not had any lockups, although mine did reboot once while I was navigating the home screen.
