DC Comics Goes Digital no comments
DC Comics, which publishes more than 80 comics monthly
including Superman, Batman and many more, has launched an iPad and iPhone app. DC has also struck a deal to offer its digital comics on Sony’s PlayStation Network.
Initially the new iPad/iPhone app will offer more than 100 issues from the DC library and the company plans to add around 100 additional issues each month. Issues will be priced from $.99 to $2.99, and there are some freebies. DC’s major imprints – DC Comics, Vertigo, WildStorm and Zuda will be represented.
On the the PlayStation Network DC will initially launch with more than 80 issues, adding 50 or more additional titles per month.
DC also says that it is not forgetting about brick-and-mortar stores. The publisher says that its “Retailer Affiliate Program” will include "a portion of digital revenues to be invested back to and on behalf of comic book retailers in a variety of initiatives."
