Sony Offers ePub Update for PRS-500 eReader no comments
If you own a Sony PRS-500 ereader Sony is offering an update process to make your ebook reader epub compatible. The firmware update also adds support for PDF re-flow and DRM’ed epub (Adobe Digital Editions).
Unfortunately, this is not a firmware update that you can perform by yourself – you will need to send your ereader back to Sony. There is also a trade-in program if you wish to upgrade your PRS-500 to the newer Pocket Edition ($50 credit) or the Touch Edition ($75 credit).

Sony plans to have completed converting the ebooks available at the Sony eBook Store from the present BBeB format to epub by the middle of December, 2009. After that time, PRS-500 owners will not be able to purchase ebooks from the Sony eBook Store without the update.
